In our recent QuickBooks related YouTube video, QB expert Sam, discusses Intuit's new Intuit Enterprise Suite (IES) software and how it relates to QuickBooks and QuickBooks Enterprise desktop software.

Have You Seen the Upgrade Button?

If you're a QuickBooks Enterprise user, you've probably noticed something new: Intuit is now pushing a button to upgrade to Intuit Enterprise Suite right in your software.

Before you click that button, we want to give you a couple of quick thoughts and (more importantly) a couple of reasons why it might not be a good idea to switch over to that software just yet.

What Is Intuit Enterprise Suite? (And How It Differs from QuickBooks Enterprise)

Intuit Enterprise Suite is an online tool that Intuit is now releasing. It's part of the QuickBooks family, but it's a completely different platform.

Here's a quick description straight from Intuit's website

"Intuit Enterprise Suite is a configurable AI-powered business platform that brings together all of your financial, payroll, HR, marketing and cash flow tools into one place—and a new way to partner with Intuit through dedicated success managers."

Intuit Enterprise Suite vs QuickBooks Enterprise: Feature Comparison

AI-Powered Automation ❌ Not Available ✅ Included
Dedicated Success Manager ❌ Not Included ✅ Included
Multi-Dimensional Reporting ⚠️ Limited ✅ Advanced
Deployment Desktop (Windows only) Cloud-based (Any device)
Best For Manufacturers, Distributors, Inventory-heavy Construction, Multi-entity, Service-based

What That Actually Means for Your Business

In quick terms, this software provides you with:

  • Multi-entity management - Manage multiple companies or locations in one system

  • Multi-dimensional reporting - Get deeper insights across your entire operation

  • Powerful new automations - AI-driven workflows that reduce manual work

  • Third-party app integrations - Connect specialized tools to extend functionality

  • Team management options - Better collaboration tools for your staff

Where Intuit Enterprise Suite Really Shines

Now, Intuit Enterprise Suite has a project management tool. It has really good options for construction teams. If you're in the construction industry or running project-based work, IES has some excellent capabilities built specifically for those workflows.

Does Intuit Enterprise Suite Have Inventory Management? (Critical Limitations)

Intuit Enterprise Suite does not have much to do with inventory options. And if you are a manufacturer, this is a major issue.

Let me say that again because this is critical: If you rely on QuickBooks Enterprise's built-in inventory management, Intuit Enterprise Suite is not ready for you yet.

Why This Should Matter to You

As you can imagine, this leads us to one of the main reasons why it might not be a good idea for you to switch to Intuit Enterprise Suite at this time.

Using QuickBooks Enterprise for Inventory? Here's Why You Shouldn't Switch to IES

If you are somebody who is comfortably using QuickBooks Enterprise and using the built-in inventory management options (the tracking, the manufacturing features, the advanced inventory tools) this is not going to be a good option for you to switch to right now.

IES vs QuickBooks Enterprise: Inventory Features Breakdown

Inventory Management Features: What's Missing in IES

Inventory Feature Available in QB Enterprise Available in IES
Serial Number Tracking ✅ Yes ❌ No
Lot Number Tracking ✅ Yes ❌ No
Multiple Warehouse Locations ✅ Yes ❌ No
FIFO Costing ✅ Yes ❌ No
LIFO Costing ✅ Yes ❌ No
Weighted Average Costing ✅ Yes ❌ No
Bills of Materials (BOM) ✅ Yes ❌ No
Assembly/Manufacturing ✅ Yes ❌ No
Advanced Inventory Reports ✅ Yes ❌ Limited
Barcode Scanning ✅ Yes ⚠️ Via 3rd party only

When QuickBooks Enterprise Desktop Still Wins

  • Advanced inventory tracking with serial numbers and lot tracking

  • Manufacturing workflows with bills of materials

  • Multiple inventory locations and warehouse management

  • FIFO/LIFO costing methods

  • Robust inventory reporting

Intuit Enterprise Suite simply doesn't have these features at this time.

Best Third-Party Inventory Apps Compatible with Intuit Enterprise Suite?

Now, if you are somebody who is using external inventory management software with your QuickBooks (maybe you're already using Katana, Cin7, or another third-party inventory system), maybe Intuit Enterprise Suite is something you would look at.

But here's the key: You need to verify that your specific third-party inventory app is available and compatible with Intuit Enterprise Suite. Not all integrations have been built yet.

The Bottom Line: Do a Deep Dive First

When you're switching to a new system, or when you're considering an offering like this, you really want to do a deep dive to make sure it is going to be correct for you.

Don't just click that upgrade button because it's there.

Should You Switch? Quick Decision Guide

Frequently Asked Questions: Intuit Enterprise Suite vs QuickBooks Enterprise

  • Intuit Enterprise Suite (IES) is a cloud-based, AI-powered business platform that consolidates financial, payroll, HR, marketing, and cash flow tools into one system. It offers multi-entity management, advanced reporting, and dedicated success manager support. However, it currently lacks the comprehensive inventory management features found in QuickBooks Enterprise Desktop.

  • No, Intuit Enterprise Suite does not currently have robust inventory management capabilities. It lacks:

    • Advanced inventory tracking with serial/lot numbers

    • Manufacturing workflows with Bills of Materials (BOM)

    • Multiple warehouse location management

    • FIFO/LIFO costing methods

    • Assembly and manufacturing features

    • Advanced inventory reporting

If your business relies heavily on these features, QuickBooks Enterprise Desktop remains the better choice.

  • Do NOT switch if:

    • You rely heavily on inventory management or manufacturing features

    • You use serial/lot number tracking

    • You need Bills of Materials (BOM) functionality

    • Advanced inventory costing (FIFO/LIFO) is critical to your operations

    Consider switching if:

    • You need multi-entity consolidation across multiple companies

    • You're in construction or project-based industries

    • You already use third-party inventory software (and it's IES-compatible)

    • Cloud accessibility for remote teams is a priority

    • You don't have significant inventory management needs

Always schedule a consultation with a certified QuickBooks expert like Certum Solutions before making the switch.

  • QuickBooks Enterprise excels at:

    • Comprehensive inventory management

    • Manufacturing and assembly workflows

    • Desktop stability and performance

    • Advanced inventory costing methods

    • Industry-specific features for distribution and manufacturing

    Intuit Enterprise Suite excels at:

    • Multi-entity management and consolidation

    • AI-powered automations and workflows

    • Cloud accessibility from any device

    • Project management (especially for construction)

The best choice depends on your specific business needs, particularly around inventory management.

  • Yes, you can integrate third-party inventory management software like Katana, Cin7, Fishbowl, or other solutions with Intuit Enterprise Suite. However, you must verify that your specific inventory app is compatible with IES before switching. Not all integrations have been built yet, and compatibility varies by vendor.

If you're already using external inventory software successfully with QuickBooks Enterprise, IES may be a viable option. but always test integration compatibility first.

  • Yes! Intuit Enterprise Suite has excellent project management tools and features built specifically for construction workflows. Construction companies and project-based businesses will find IES particularly beneficial because:

    • Advanced project tracking and management capabilities

    • Job costing features tailored for contractors

    • Multi-project visibility and reporting

    • Cloud accessibility for field teams

    • Integration with construction-specific apps

If you're in construction and don't have heavy inventory management needs, IES is worth serious consideration.

  • Pricing varies based on your specific needs, number of users, and features required. Both platforms offer tiered pricing:

    QuickBooks Enterprise Desktop:

    • Starts at approximately $1,340/year for Silver

    • Gold and Platinum tiers offer additional features

    • Diamond includes hosting for cloud access

    Intuit Enterprise Suite:

    • Custom pricing based on business size and needs

    • Includes dedicated success partner

    • 30-90 days for planning and execution

    • Professional migration services (highly recommended, Certum can help)

    • Data mapping and cleanup

    • Historical data decisions (how much to migrate)

    • User training on the new platform

    • Parallel testing period

Critical consideration: If you have extensive inventory data with serial/lot tracking, Bills of Materials, or complex manufacturing workflows, this data may not migrate cleanly since IES lacks these features.

Always work with a Certum Solutions certified QuickBooks consultant to assess your migration complexity before switching. We offer free consultations and quotes.

  • While technically possible, switching back from Intuit Enterprise Suite to QuickBooks Enterprise is complicated and not recommended. Challenges include:

    • Data structure differences between platforms

    • Time and cost of double migration

    • Training disruption for your team

    • Lost productivity during transitions

This is why thorough evaluation BEFORE switching is critical. Take the time to verify IES meets your needs before migrating. Consider running a pilot program or demo before committing. Contact our team, this is why we’re here.
